About

Making Miracles Happen

Mirakel, a nonprofit founded in 2013, is committed to introducing pioneering programs to support families in neonatal intensive care units, maternity wards, and those coping with child loss.

Pernilla Rönnholm, the co-founder in 2013 and sole founder since 2014, launched the organization after her premature twins' birth, where one tragically passed away due to ESBL klebsiella pneumoniae and sepsis in the NICU.

Her mission is to create a positive impact for present and future families. Mirakel advocates for single-family rooms in NICUs to actively mitigate infection risks and conducts global initiatives to raise awareness on antimicrobial resistance through media, the EU, seminars, and webinars.

Empowering Lives Through Compassion

We are committed to positively impacting families and healthcare through promoting international cooperation among healthcare professionals, organizations, families, stakeholders, policymakers, and advocates alike.

AMR in social media

Preterm babies in the NICU often rely on antibiotics, which is beneficial yet increases their vulnerability to antibiotic resistance, especially with few single rooms in NICU. We actively promote awareness about AMR (antimicrobial resistance) through various media channels, advocating prevention.

AMR in Europe

We are the first Swedish non profit organisation being voted in as member of the European AMR Patient Group

as well as in European Network for Infection Prevention and Antimicrobial Resistance (ENIPAR). AMR is a global problem, affecting our preemies and families nationally and globally.

CARB-X, Porto, Portugal - Sept16

Pernilla will be one of the speakers in the expert panel at the CARB-X conference in Porto, Portugal, where new antibiotics will be in focus.

EU Health and Food Safety, Brussels, Belgium - June 11

Opened by Commissioner Kyriakides and hosted by our Director for One Health Roser Domenech Amado, the seminar gathered national journalists from nearly all EU Member States for highly engaging exchanges on all aspects of the issue. Pernilla speaker at the seminar, as well as Malin Grape,, the Swedish government's ambassador for AMR.

What we do

Inspiring Stories

Discover heartwarming tales of impact and change within our organization.

Tactile massage

For a three years we were giving tactile massage to women with pregnancy complications thanks to donators. Want to help us continue giving tactile massage?

Innovation

Innovation is one of our keywords.

We were first in Sweden supporting families who have lost twins/triplets, giving tactile massage to women with pregnancy complications, making "angel gowns", i.e funeral clothes to babies born week 12 - 40 by donated wedding dresses and

through sponsorships able to provide Christmas presents to expectant mothers facing complications in Gothenburg. Our supporter, the talented Swedish artist Tommy Nilsson, joined us one Christmas, in distributing gifts at the specialized maternity ward.
